February 16, 2008 | Gente en Utrecht (serie)(People at Utrecht, series) Utrecth, The Netherlands. It's been long since the last post, and lots of things happened. I went on a work trip to Vietnam and managed to have spare time to take pictures of the people and landscape there, which I loved. Some post from Vietnam to come soon. After V. I moved to Utrecht again, was busy with the moving and work. And I got a Leica CL with a Summicron-C 40/2 from an ebay Austrian seller. You know I've been liking the idea of a small rangefinder camera for quite some time, so I finally did it. The camera arrived last week, it looked great and worked perfectly, and I couldn't wait to load some film and go shooting. I really enjoyed the 'Leica experience', it was like going back to the origins (all manual, do-it-yourself kind of thing). It was a sunny day, so I just measured the light on an average sunny surface once and let the exposure pre-set. I also pre-set the focus to two or three meters on the distance scale of the lens and didn't bother about the rangefinder. Pure street snapshot style, so fast and exciting! This are four pictures from my first roll. I'm quite satisfied with the results, I mean all the pictures from the roll came out well exposed and acceptably focused, which is more than I expected. I will post some more pictures from a second roll I exposed and got developed yesterday. Thanks for reading! This series generated (some reaction) at rangefinderforum.com. A great web forum, by the way, one of the few which I usually find interesting to read.
